From a young age Peter was very sporty, he loved chess, numbers, the Scouts, history, and all things to do with sport. As he got older he excelled at Rubgy, and Volleyball where he played for school as well as Spark Volleyball Club. He loved athletics especially triple jump and running, he was a talented coach and a London Schools Team Manager for Track and Field and Cross-country. He played a lot of football and he was a lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC. He also appreciated many other teams for their skilful game and guile. The Scouts introduced him to Outdoor Pursuits which was a feature of our life for many years. As a child he had a bike, and age 14 he, and a mate decided to cycle from Upper Norwood to Brighton and back in a day, much of the ride was in the wet - hence a life long passion for cycling. He was a fitness fanatic.

Aside from sport he was interested in politics, he read broadsheet newspapers daily, and was always happy to discuss how he would put the world to right. He was a member of the Labour Party and an avid supporter of all things European.

Musically he loved Jazz, especially Miles Davis. In the Summer of 1973 on a trip to the States, when he was in New Orleans visiting Jazz haunts, bars and museums somebody tapped him on the shoulder - it was a classmate who he had sat next to in secondary school & when Pete asked how he knew he was there, the reply was I saw your name in the visitors book - what are the chances of that happening?

Pete was inspired to travel by his mother and in the next section I will list his and our travel through the time we were together.

Pete loved art and culture and was a member of the V & A, Tate, Natural History Museum, Royal Academy, The Art Fund, and the British Museum. When we are both retired, one day of the week was dedicated to museum visits and exhibitions.

He supported a number of National charities - Amnesty International, the RSPB, The Woodland Trust, Wildfowl and Wetland Trust, English Heritage, National Trust, Action Medical Research, Scope, and The British Heart Foundation. He cycled many Charity ride for AMR and most recently The Prudential Ride London (100 miles of traffic free cycling) several times for Scope.

He was a keen photographer and had a fascination for road signs, and postboxes. Both of which feature in many of the photographs he took. And to cap it I have just found 100 First Class Post Box Stamps - obviously a special set the Royal Mail produced. He collected new bikes, and whenever asked how many he owned - it was always N + 1.
