Peter was the only son to Eileen. Peter's father left the family home when he was young.His mother went to south London in search of work and Peter was bought up by his Grandmother Florence. Once his mother got work, and managed to get a mortgage from Croydon Council (no mean feat in those days for a single mother) Florence and Peter moved south to Upper Norwood and Grange Rd. His mother is 96 and survives him, living in a Care Home in Felixstowe.
