Former teaching colleague: "My abiding memory of him is - perpetual motion - he was always 'in action', usually with a half eaten apple in his hand. Kids would stop him in the corridors and ask a question about the lesson or homework and he would immediately stop, fish out a piece of paper and explain in a painstaking way what they needed to know. He was always cheerful, with a wry sense of humour who had an acute understanding of what was going on 'management wise' in the school. On a couple of occasions I said slow down Pete, he never did, he was driven to teach and help others.....a lovely man"
